Community Cleanup

This weeks task the Big Bang Foundation did a City Clean Up. On March 13th, 2016 The Big Bang Foundation also known as the Big Homies organized a community clean up with the goal of creating a safer and healthier community our friends and family live in. This effort was a major success with 50+ people from the community showing up for the cause bringing along their children, family and friends. Starting at Redmond Park up, Big Homies organized 4 groups to head out on different routes to get as much trash, waste, and compost as possible of the streets. With coverage by KCRG TV-9 recording the event live, Big Homies and other volunteers picked up cigarette butts, trash, glass and other hazardous items from the lawns, sidewalk and streets. After a little over an hour, the groups met back at Redmond park followed by Aaron Hanson, founder of the compost ninja with truck load full of trash and scraps. Not longer after they all decided to weigh out the compost and trash they had collected and found out it was over an astonishing 250 pounds worth the waste had been collected. Later the following night, KCRG aired an amazing story of the efforts and Big Homies are looking to set up more community clean ups in the near future.
