The Cedar Rapids “Lights On” Program was founded by the Big Bang Foundation to create a safe place for youth living in the high-risk neighborhood of Wellington Heights. We invite youth ages 8-21 to enjoy various activities, dinner, and snacks on Friday evenings between the hours of 6:00 pm & 10:00 pm, a time period particularly prone to violence in the surrounding community. All activities are held at McKinley Middle School and participants just have to show up to join in, there are no reservations or sign ups required. The primary focus of Lights On is to keep our youth off the streets and safe from violence.
